Introducing Our Psychologist

Stacey is a Registered Psychologist and holds a Masters in Social Science (majoring in Psychology). She grew up in South Auckland and is the eldest child of 3. At 12 years old, Stacey’s family relocated to Hamilton and Hamilton is considered her home. Stacey has had many colourful life experiences. These experiences have provided her with practical insight which complement her theoretical knowledge. Stacey has been successful in making many life changes for herself so she understands that change (1) takes time and (2) is not easy. She is passionate and competent in treating personality dysfunction and mental health issues. Stacey enjoys empowering individuals, groups and organisations to reach their full potential. Her empathetic and personable style allows others to feel comfortable within therapy. She believes in the importance of compassion, positive regard and respect when interacting with others.
Collaboration is an important part of Stacey’s work and she ensures that her clients are part of the decision making process. Stacey believes that each client is unique and she understands that each person comes with their own experiences, personal qualities, learning styles and … fears (after all, this is what makes us human right?). Stacey spends the first session gaining an understanding of who the client is as a person (first and foremost), assessing the client’s current difficulties and setting the intention (goals) for therapy. Stacey strongly believes that her clients are the “experts” when understanding themselves. Her Socratic style allows her clients to explore their own thoughts in a way which unlocks their inner wisdom. The interweaving of kinaesthetic, visual and written teaching strategies keeps Stacey’s therapy lively and relatable.
